Breaking Dawn Trailer

Fall of Giants Review

HI Guys, i just finished reading Fall of Giants by Ken Follett, and personally, i had been looking for a book like this one for a long time. Its very 'Fullmetal alchemist-ish' in a strange way. Not in terms of plot, but in terms of story-telling.

Though Fall of Giants seemed to me at first, for a book of 850 pages, a title that indicated that the story contained in the pages was going to be a heavy and forced combination of melodrama, fantasy and suspense. Another stereotyped book from another ‘sell-out’ author. But despite that, I got the book, sat down and read it. And it blew me away.

The book is first in the intended ‘The Century’ trilogy, and deals with the First World War, Russian Revolution, and the struggle for votes for women, and is about five families connected to each other, sometimes without their knowledge. Some of the characters don’t even know about some other’s existence, but that is the beauty of the story. No character or situation or even time period, in this case, is supreme in itself, but they all add a little to it.

The story begins in 1911, when a 13 year old boy, Billy, in the welsh region of Britain, goes to work in a coalmine, on the day of the coronation of King George V. This is the introduction of the Williams family in the story. As the story continues, more characters come in. Billy’s elder sister, Ethel, their parents, Earl Edward Fitzherbert, his wife and sister, German spy Walter von Ulrich, American Gus Dewar and Russian brothers Grigori and Lev.

At first all these characters seem to be puzzling, but somehow Follett’s writing style warms you up to them so deeply, it’s not a difficult job remembering them. Though he doesn’t describe very deeply the landscapes nor does he give a very detailed narration of the characters but despite that the reader feels as if all of that is stated – even if Follett has omitted something. The writing isn’t extraordinarily great, but rather ‘to the point’ and yet compelling.

All of the characters in the book represent different ideologies that existed at that time – conservative to anarchist – and all that different sections of the society lived through. They depict how the society had started to transition and how the world went through war and revolution.

But the fact that the book closely examines life through war and revolution shouldn’t be mistaken that the story becomes too dreary and dark. It, on the contrary, celebrates life. In one instance, the English and German soldiers on the front, when their superiors weren’t close, started to chat and greet each other on Christmas.

Another quality of the book is that it closely draws upon history, with real persons and incidents that are historically accurate.

Follett’s latest book is a great read and though it appears long, it is worth a reader’s time.

Hi guys, sorry about the slow blogging lately. But well, I'm online now.

Ekta Kapoor's twilight serial finally premiered two weeks back, after all the delays, and though so far, i think most people are watching it, the story is only very loosely related to twilight. (obviously). just the basic plot is similar. the indivisual scenes are a bit overdone, but as a whole, its quite entertaining.

i personally, dont feel like i would really sit down and punctually watch every episode of it (which i haven't for a week now) it is worth sitting back and watching.

I think eventually, it has the typical saas-bahu soap direction, but that doesn't seem very prominent.

good watching, to all who are courageous enough.

Taylor Swift's Mean

Well, I heard the song and well, its good. More country than pop. It's a bit Kenny Roger-ish. I think its got a typical country kinda music.

That's all I have to say about it.

And, yeah. In her lyrics, TS is obviously pointing at her critics so I think it'd be ironic when someone doesn't like the song and will lash it out in return.

Back to December still the best song on the album so far.

LP Concept album v/s TS concept album Videos

This is just like sort of something random, but i feel strongly about.

The LP MVs from A Thousand Suns were kind of like abstract, where as Taylor Swift's Mine video was more of like a story and even though it is typical of Taylor Swift to have a storyline in her songs and videos. But still. Speak Now is a concept album and I think as much as a video should represent the idea of the song, it should also be in accordance with the rest of the album. And if its a concept album , the music videos should depict the story of the album.

So, inside my head, Taylor Swift Videos from Speak Now win from LP's videos from A Thousand Suns.

But as far as the songs go, the two are still competing, also considering the Speak Now hasn't released yet.

So I just heard Taylor Swift's Back to December and its actually is good. Its nothing I was thinking it was gonna be after I had heard Speak Now, and I was hoping for something pretty bad. Her vocals in the song are amazing and I just love the way the song's melancholy yet lively at the same time.

I'm just kinda happy that there is a good song on the album, even though I like Innocent and Mine.

So, the new LP MV came out and it's like a sequel to the Catalyst MV. The Catalyst was smoky grey-green and this is starry blue. I just couldn't see the greatness or difference from, well, other MVs. But then, I guess, we all know how quickly my opnion might turn positive.

Taylor Swift's Speak Now

So, just heard Taylor Swift's Speak Now, and, well, its a typical Taylor Swift Song. The lyrics are okay, nothing great. The song kind of lacks the rhythm 'Mine' had, just something kinda off hand. So far, both Mine and Speak Now have failed to achieve the new-ness, or the freshness I was expecting. I mean, you could listen to the songs, but might not really volunteer to.

Now, something about the lyrics. Like I said, they weren't anything great. This is how it goes:

I am not the kind of girl
Who should be rudely barging in on a white veil occasion
But you are not the kind of boy
Who should be marrying the wrong girl

Don’t say yes, run away now
I’ll meet you when you’re out of the church at the backdoor

Which, frankly, doesn't even rhyme. The song's a lot like Picture to burn. Something that you can sing along with but it doesn't really strike you as something you want to listen to.

Let's expect something better from the rest of the album. Speak Now releases 25 Oct. 2010.

So its been raining all month in mysicalchemist land and it's not like we have frequent powercuts, just few prolonged ones. And so far only a foot bridge has collapsed. Yeah, right. Stadium roofs have also collapsed and the roads aren't there any longer. I think they have submerged under the flowing rivers flowing in place of the roads. Also, the remaining parts of roads that were still visible have hid under potholes and dug-up holes and manholes and all the other holes.

This is for all the people who responisible for or adminster all this or work in these deptts or can do something about this to kindly rescue the people who have been inflicted with all the rain induced infrastucture-less-ness of the mysticalchemist land and go do something about the power and the damn foot bridge.

LP's Suns' Concept

All right, so five minutes after the previous post, I find this article on MTV. So apparently, there is no definite story in the album.

This is what Mike Shinoda is saying (after reading which I think that the whole concept-less concept album doesn't bug me so much):

"People asked us if it's a concept record, and in the middle of the process, we were contemplating whether or not that was what we wanted to do. And I think, as we finished it, it became clear that, usually the problem with concept records is, like, [the] term usually refers to things like [the Who's] Tommy or ... rock operas and stuff like than that has a narrative. And this doesn't have a narrative; it's more abstract that that. "

Anyhow, for all those people who haven't heard A Thousand Suns yet, it's not so bad an album. The songs Wretches and Kings, Blackout and Waiting for the End are actually pretty good songs, now that I have heard some parts of the album again.

A Thousand Suns II

All right, so I am not a musical genius, but i did realise that Linkin Park's A Thousand Suns is a concept album. I have heard like two-three times by now, and frankly, where is the story?

I mean, out of the 15 tracks, I hav even started liking some more that I did the first time, but I can't figure out the concept of the album.

Its just this thing they are singing and A thousand Suns, I think, failed achieve the depth it could have. Just a bit of modifications, and this album could really have done well for me.

Anyways, I still think 'Wretches and Kings' is the best track so far.

A Thousand Suns

Linkin Park's new album A Thousand Suns was released on September 14 and I was in high hopes that day about how great it was going to be and everything but now there is just one thing that keeps coming to mind.

I finally heard the album today and it completely stripped of Linkin park-ness. Hybrid Theory and Meteora but both amazing, Minutes to Midnights was still entertaining, but this album really did it.

It has like 15 songs out of which I think 3 are just famous-people-quotes, the opening song (The Requiem) Was Something like what Green Day did to 21st Century Breakdown's Song of the Century, but they (Green Day) did it much better. Even the lyrical style was different. Linkin Park was all about life and human perception (that's how i see it), but this album has just a hint of it with political and social opinions being more prominent. Frankly, I don't mind it one bit, if they would have done it in the same style.

Most of the songs simply didn't make it to the bar I had set. I think Wretches and Kings was the one song i actually liked, but the rest kinda hung between nu metal and rock. That Linkin Park thing was missing.

All in all, it was a big disappointment. Though the cover really got me. One word for it: Beau.ti.ful. Love the way its done and and the title interpreted.

Taylor Swift's Innocent

Yes, the song premierred on VMAs 2010 and admitedly, it was better than I expected. Really, after I heard Mine, I was a bit disappointed because it had the Love Story rhythm, but it didn't have the charm. (The video was great though). But Innocent has a strange Evanescnce tinge to it, which isn't very bad. It might actually work.

Review - "Fallen" by Lauren Kate

MY MUSINGS- The book was good enough, but was mostly plot-driven. There was no force in the characters. Luce was just a whiney teen with no idea what to do with her life. I mean, seriously, how can she love Daniel one moment and not love him another. I guess it was simply forced into it. And that's exactly why the writing style was horrible. It didn't make me feel the way Luce did. I forced myself to think like her, and when I finally accomplish it, she changes her mind! And that was so irritating. Her erratic mood and character was frustrating in a way that pulled the book downwards.

And the one thing what I totally didn't get was why did Lauren Kate have to write in 3rd person from Luce's perspective?

FINAL SAY- It's an okay-okay book, and I would reccomned it for those who want to read something princess diary-ish.

World Book Fair Delhi

Hey,

On Sunday, I visited the World Book Fair in Pragati Maidan, Delhi. The fair was simply HUGE (and that's when I only visited 2 out of 8 halls). Almost all the publishers whose books I wanted were there. Random House, Om Books House, Pan Macimillian, Roli Books, Hachette, Harper Collins, Frank Brothers and a lot more (except Simon and Schuster (I wanted Hush, Hush by Becca FitzPatrick really bad)). I got quite a bit of books. Some books (like hush hush) were ones I wanted and couldn't find, but probably Though probably one book shouldn't cloud my experience. All in all, it was great, and all book--lovers are reccomended to go there next time.

Anime: The new Mangas

Hey all!
Anime and Manga have always been two sides of the same coin. The engrossing manga stories that all of us love to read are being converted to Animes, thereby increasing an audience for the manga stories and making them available to more no. of people. But with the increasing number of mangas being made into animes, most people switch from mangas to animes. This is because not only are animes more convinient to watch, but the animated form of the characters we love make us a part of the story in a deeper manner. But is this increasing no. of manga based animes threatening the existence of the mangas they were borne out of?

Even if it is, is this change bad? Animes may have a lack of bases for their origin, but manga plots will have a platform to be projected directly as animes. However, the readers of mangas may not like this very much.

Just like i said, they are two sides of the same coin. This new fashion of converting mangas to animes may be good and bad both, but the final result will be seen in the course of some more time.

Dragon Ball Evolution

Dragonball Evolution is a live-action movie based on the popular Anime and manga series 'Dragon Ball'. Now the live-action is being released in India! It will be in Cinemas on August 7, 2009 in both Hindi and English. Though we wont know whether the people liked it or not till it is released, the Dragon Ball fans are ignited with enthusiasm. Hopefully, this will turn out to be good!

Review - Ronin by Frank Miller

Ronin is a comic by the American writer and artist Frank Miller. First published in 1983, its still as appealing as it was when first released. Not much of a manga, but the colourful images and American esscence make this story very enthralling.

Synopsis:

A dishonoured, masterless 13th-century samurai- a ronin- is reborn into the corrupt and computerised New York City on the 21st Century with one last chance for redemption. It is here, on the bleak and decaying battleground, that he will at last come face to face with the reincarnation of his former master's killer-the ancient demnon Agat-settle past debts, and fight for the soul of a dying civilisation.

Critical Appreciation:

Story: The story was completely engrossing. The complexity and complications that develop through out the story are amazing. They are able to engross the reader to depths that might be unreachable by other stories. The way Miller fuses the past, the present and the future is keeps the reader hang on to the story. Moreover, it the pace of the story can rip the paint of a spaceship. This beauty of the story, merged with modern technology and ancient legends absorbs the reader into a world where technology and magic are one.
Style of Writing and Drawing: The intensity of the plot has light -hearted humor at places, capable of not burdening the reader of the characters' desires, hopes and experiences. The dialogues are witty, but the seriousness of the situation is kept intact by the brilliant and appealing graphics.

As a concluding statement, this comic is a must for those adventure-loving, superhero fans out there. If you think you loved Batman, then this is sure to be on your list by the same author!

Twilight By Stephenie Meyer to be converted to Manhwa

Well, I think Its really great that what books like Harry Potter couldn't accomplish, Twilight has. Mangas being converted to Animes is something so common that probably 90% animes are based on mangas. But a novel by an English author to be converted to a manhwa is something new.

With Globalisation on the rise, the fusion of American and Japanese comics has helped the emergence of new kind of readers who get an opportunity to read about philosophy, drama, and action in comics and at times all in one. With Novels like Twilight being Converted to manhwas, this is helping readers of different genres to come together and share ideas. I think that not only will a story like Twilight be able to reach more readers, but also help different form of communication of stories fuse into one. I think the example of Twilight should one that promotes conversion of novels to mangas and vice versa.

This also gives hope to anime to come in and be a part of this.

FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST and TSUBASA CHRONICLES ALIKE?

Hi all.

I know what all of you must be thinking. Fullmetal Alchemist and Tsubasa Chronicles are poles apart. But what is it that is common among the two? Well, this might be rare, but the length of these two animes is quite the same.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is an ongoing series about two brothers who lost all that they had, even their bodies after performing Alchemical taboos. Now they are on a journey in the search philosopher’s stone which holds the power to revert their mistakes. It’s a remake of Fullmetal Alchemist and has telecasted only 5 episodes as yet and is being telecasted almost around the world including South-East Asia, India, Japan, Australia and the U.S.A. The anime’s first production had telecasted 51 episodes and 1 full-length movie, 5 OVAs along-side a lot of merchandise. The original manga still continues with 21 volumes having been released.

On the other hand, Tsubasa Chronicles is the love story of Sakura and Syaoran, who are journeying with Fye and Kurogane to retrieve Sakura’s feathers which holds a part of Sakura’s soul and memory each. Without them, Sakura shall die. It had all begun when Syaoran, Sakura, who is a princess, is a childhood friend of Syaoran and now the latter needs to bring back Sakura’s feathers who journeys along with Fye and Kuogane. It’s an ongoing Manga and Anime, with manga having released 23 volumes and the anime having 2 seasons and 3 OVAs. However, the 2 season and OVAs haven’t concluded the story as yet.

At the conclusion of Volume 23, on the last page of Chapter 182, the authors of Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle announced the manga was entering its final arc. It is expected that Tsubasa and its sister publication, xxxHolic will end prior to the 2009 publication of Clamp's new shōjo manga.

But what matters is that the FMA manga has not concluded and is expected to run longer and the TC manga is still running. And since the FMA remake will closely follow the story of the manga this time, unlike the first production, is it possible for even FMA:B to outrun 2 seasons, that is almost 50 episodes just like TC? In that case FMA:B should be telecasted for longer than a year. Who knows, maybe that might just happen…

Fullmetal Alchemist OVA on 1st Brotherhood Disc

The first Blu-ray Disc and DVD volume for the Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood anime series will include a Mōmoku no Renkinjutshi (Blind Alchemist) OVA when Aniplex ships it on August 26. The OVA is based on the side story of the same name that manga creator Hiromu Arakawa drew for the Fullmetal Alchemist Guidebook. The first Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood disc release will also feature the first two episodes from the television series. The Limited Initial Edition will add "Hiromu Arakawa's 4-Panel Theater," which will be the first time that Arakawa's four-panel gag manga have been animated. The other extras will include an "Eye Catch Card" illustrated with the commercial bumper artwork from the anime and a 16-page Alchemist's Log about the behind-the-scenes production. Hiroki Kanno is drawing the disc jacket illustrations. Arakawa herself will illustrate a "Rouge" box for the first four volumes.

Review for FMA:B ep 2 and 3

HI ALL!
This is my review for the episode 2 and 3 of Fullmetal Alchemist:Brotherhood (पुर्ण धातु कीमियागर: ब्रदरहुद)
Overall, both were equally good, compared to the first episode of FMA:B. Obviously, Yasuhiro Irie has changed the script a little, that is the way the identity of Father Cornello is revealed to the people and the way he dies and some minor changes here and there. However, episode 2 was much, much better as compared to the first production. The past of the 2 brothers is better defined and doesn't leave a mark of doubt. But yeah, in the first production, doubt was well used. The description of the gate is better. There were also enough number of hilarious scenes to make things lighter. But what I really liked was how God was shown right before Ed saw the truth. That was really amazing that Ed sort of met God and still doesn't believe in his existence. That part is really catchy. The facial expressions of Ed weren't as appreciable as earlier, but it was good enough. I guess Yasuhiro Irie will prove to be a better director that Seiji Mizushima!

All in all, the first 3 episodes show signs of a good anime ahead of us. So be on the watch out for this one!

Review-FMA:B episode 1

These are my views on Fullmetal Alchemist:Brotherhood's episode 1 which in Japan on April 5, and on April 10 in Asia. Read the Complete schedule here.

SUMMARY:
When the regenade Ice Alchemist runs amok inside Central, Führer King Bradley puts Roy Mustang in charge of his capture. Edward and Alphonse Elric are taking part in the operation as well, and they manage to corner the guy. Edward’s automail right arm and the fact that he doesn’t use a transmutation circle make the Ice Alchemist realize that Edward is the Fullmetal Alchemist. Regardless, the two manage to capture the Ice Alchemist, but he promptly escapes from the soldiers who come to take him away. The two brothers then return to headquarters where they get lectured by Mustang. The Flame Alchemist explains that the Ice Alchemist is Isaac McDougall, a former state alchemist who participated in the Ishbal extermination war but had given up his state alchemist title afterward and had joined an anti-establishment movement. Mustang prioritizes his capture but knows that they might have to kill him, and that’s something Ed doesn’t want to do. Their conversation is interrupted by the arrival of Maes Hughes who meets Ed and Al for the first time, and he invites them to stay over at his house. This gives Hughes the chance to show off his wife Gracia and daughter Elicia, and the family treats the brothers to dinner. Not wanting to reveal the reason why Al can’t eat, Ed claims that Al is in the middle of alchemist training.
Meanwhile, at Central Prison, Isaac has gone to see Kimblee, the Crimson Alchemist, to convince him to join forces to overthrow Bradley and the military. Isaac points to how Kimblee had killed high ranking military officials, but Kimblee claims that he just killed them because he wanted to, so Isaac leaves him there. Back at Hughes’s home, he’s up late thinking about how the Elric brothers are seen as dogs of the army at such a young age. Ed and Al, on the other hand, are talking about dinner and how Al wants to get his original body back. The search for Isaac continues the next day until Alex Louis Armstrong is able to find him in an alley, and the commotion attracts Ed and Al. Isaac manages to escape though, and he evades capture yet again when he gets cornered by Mustang and some troops. He returns to the same alley later that night, but he’s found again by Ed and Al. Instead of running away this time, he activates multiple red-hued transmutation reactions at once across the city, causing the brothers to think of the Philosopher’s Stone. Isaac feels that Ed would understand what he’s trying to do if Ed knew what the country was trying to do, but what Ed cares about now is how Isaac might have a Philosopher’s Stone.
Isaac then forms a giant block of ice and rides on top of it, and Ed and Al realize that Isaac is trying to bury headquarters in ice. Ed thus decides to go after Isaac and has Armstrong take care of the transmutation circles that Isaac set up. The two brothers climb onto the block of ice and fight Isaac, and when Isaac tries to blow Al’s head off, he realizes that he’s fighting an empty suit of armor upon which a soul was affixed. This combined with how Ed lost his real arm leads Isaac to figure out that the two brothers committed the taboo of human transmutation. This really angers Ed, and together with Al, he beats up on their opponent. Isaac, however, still has a few tricks up his sleeves, and he freezes his blood to stab Ed in the shoulder. This gives him a chance to escape again and make his way into a dark alley, but he finds Bradley waiting there. Isaac tries to take down Bradley with a spear of ice, but Bradley kills Isaac in one quick motion. By the time Ed and Al arrive on the scene, everything is already over, and the two still don’t know if a Philosopher’s Stone was involved. Unbeknownst to them, the Homunculus Lust is on the phone with someone about Isaac’s death. She thinks that Isaac used the Philosopher’s Stone too much, and she reports that things in Lior are going well. With Gluttony nearby, she feels that it will start soon.

MY VIEWS:
For the first episode, the opening is relly. It is a good introduction to the story and shows the basic theme of The story well. What I really liked about it was it is different from FMA 1. The first production was more serious and had more of a philosophical inclination. This production seems to have more of hilarious animation. As we can see in most parts of the episode. This doesn't really lie on the negative or positive side, just that the story is told in the more "manga" style. As Hiromu Arakawa states in one of her interviews that she thinks manga is ment for entertainment and should be funny. Anyways, so this is a good sign for FMA 2 as it is ment to be closely following the story of the manga. Though as far as I understand, the character Issac is not in the manga, was ment specifically for the introduction of this anime. The Opening and the Closing were relly good, though the closing Uso [lie] bi SID is more catchy. But I have started to like Again by Yui the more and more I listen to it. Overall, Yasuhiro Irei has given a good opening for the whole series and I hope he keeps up the good work.

The second episode was telecasted in Japan today and will be telecasted in Asia on 17th April.

LaMB review

HI ALL! The LaMB movie was telecasted for the last time on Animax yesterday. Here are my views about it.

STORY
The story of the movie had been highly compressed and was not at all elaborated. The first half was stretched a lot. It was only about how Jack comes to Cerra and in terms with Eve. It doesn't convey much except for Jack's past. He doesn't even get to know the real truth abot lamination.

As far as the second part is concerned, its even shorter! There simply is a conference about Jack's progress of making the planet green, Sara's past and a fight between Eve 1135 and laminated Keiko. The latter did not relly convey anything much. It was not shown why did the two fight. Pretty brief, huh? Then in the end, Sara and Jack come together and the planet has turned green.

Nothing was shown about theor fight against lamination, nothing was known about the other characters-Keiko Suzuki and Rita Golberg. In fact, Keiko was shown against lamination, then why did the two fight against eacch other? And what about her revenge against Sara?
The story did not relly answer any of these questions. The solution to this would have been to make the movie a little longer.

ANIMATION
This was something that was relly looked forward to in the movie. But it was really not very precise. Even though the robots were well-aniamted, the humans and LaMBs' animation could be worked upon. All in all, the animation could hav ebeen better.

MUSIC
The music was something that really was good, irrepective of the other lackings. Not only 'Summertime' and 'I Can Wait Forever', but even the background music, the opening and the ending were good. I wouldn't mind if they bring out a soundtrack CD of it!

CONCLUSION
The movie lacked in several phases which could be worked upon, but if expanded a little, it will turn out to be a good movie. The music should be kept and animation should be made more elaborate.

ANN has reported today that Funimation has acquired the right to digital, broadcast , DVD and merchandise of FMA:brotherhood. Starting from April 9 12 p.m. they will be streaming, for free, the japanese audio episodes of FMA:Brotherhood! They will containing English subtitles. 1. It will follow the story of the manga much closely unlikely the first time it was made. This is because earlier there were only 3-4 volumes of the manga that were released, now there are 21. Here is the confirmation on ANN here. See the paragraph under the first video.

2.It has a character Isaac who did not exist earlier in the anime.

Fullmetal Alchemist (TV2) and Tears to Tiara to premiere on Animax

Fullmetal Achemist TV version 2 will air on April 5 in Japan on the channels MBS and TBS at 5 p.m. This information was provided in the January issue of Square Enix's Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine (where Hiromu Arakawa's original manga is still serialized. The same issue also included a poster with a key visual image.

But that's not all. Animax confirmed on March 20th, 2009 that it will simulcast FMA:Brotherhood on April 10th, 2009 at 8:30 p.m. in South East Asia, Phllipines, Taiwan and South Asia. Each new episode wil air six days after the original broadcast. It will air with English and Chinese subtitles and wil be repeated on prime time. It will also broadcast Tears to Tiara in Southeast Asia, the Philippines, Hong Kong, and Taiwan on Monday, April 6 at 12:35 a.m.

Animax Asia will repeat the episodes in both series in primetime and in a weekend marathon every month. This weekend marathon after every month's episodes wil start from 25 April for Tears to Tiara and from 26 April for FMA.

The Flaws in LaMB

HI ALL!

There were flaws that I noticed in the AMV of the Simple Plan-I can wait forever and the trailer of the Movie on Animax:-

1.Bullets in the AMV:In the first scene viewing Sara a.k.a. Eve,we see her face with bullets flying in front of it which shows that Eve has just shot someone down. But didn't she kill her colleagues trying to make the planet green? How is a gun involved in making the planet greener?

2.Tears of a LaMB:In the trailer of the movie that aired on Animax, in the last part, a punchline appears- 'Guilt will make you a prisoner', then there is a dialogue said by Van Ness Wu-"Everyone has regrets. Whether its things we did or things we didn't.", and then the continuation of the punchline-'Hope will set you free.'

When Van Ness Wu says his dialogue, Eve is shown crying and laminated however http://www.animax-lamb.com/ states that LaMBs can't have facial expressions because their facial nerves are blocked. Then how can Eve have tears? :? That really confuses me.

3.Eve's smiles:In the mobile manga, the same flaws appear as Eve smiles while handing over a teddy bear to a girl. She is laminated then how can she smile and cry!?

A Message from Cerra

LaMB is a futuristic love story set on planet Cerra. As the govt. on the planet, Central Administration Bureau of Cerra (CABC), faces one of its worst challenges-greenery. Cerra is a harsh world and so the govt. needs to plant strong oxygen producing vegetation. Cerra in a way corresponds with the planet Mars in the solar system- red and sandy.

We can relate this problem of Cerra to our own needs at the moment-which is also the environment. The vegetation on our own planet Earth is steeply diminishing and we need increase afforestation and reforestation rates.

So, in a way, LaMB can be related to our own society. And therefore LaMB gives us the leson of waking now.

True love or False hope?

HI all!
When Jack came to Cerra, he was mourning his wife's death. He came to Cerra in the first place, just to forget about his wife and consequently indulged himself in work. He got mixed with the lamination politics and then he met Eve...a LaMB.

Since he came to Cerra in grief for his beloved wife, is it justified to say that he truly loved but still fell in love with Eve?

Think about it. Can a man fall in true love with two people at the same time? Or is it, that Jack's love for one of the two was simply false? Under the moon's light, false and short. Or does it mean that Jack was able to succeed in forgetting his wife? Whatever it is, I am just too excited about it, and I hope their love succeeds! ^_^

How old is Jack and how young is Eve?

HI all!

The Cerra planet is 25 light years away from earth. Man has reached half the speed of light to travel. That means that it will take about 50 years for man to reach to Cerra.

When Jack entered Cerra, he was mourning for his wife's death. She must have died back on earth. So, when Jack reached Cerra, he was over 50 years of age. Also, since he was all ready a widower, he must be really old.

While on the other hand, Eve on Cerra has not yet married (according to the synopsis). So what is the age gap between the two? Also, Eve's hair in the pictures are white, which I suppose is simply white hair colour. considering the fact that many anime characters have colourful hair.

But the point is that Eve and Jack definitely have a great age difference unless if Eve has not married till late in her life and Jack was widowed much earlier.

That is one solution to the problem. ^_^

Eve's Life. Jack's Death. Survival of Love.

Hi Everyone!

In LaMB, Eve has been convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to 200 years of lamination. Around that time, Jack enters Cerra mourning his wife's death. He gets involved in the lamination politics and ends up falling in love with Eve. Isn't that interesting, but pretty impractical. If Eve is laminated for 200 years, then by the time her sentence is completed, won't Jack die? After all, even he is human and will die someday. And after 200 years, what will happen to Eve? During her term, even if her outer beauty will penetrate, wouldn't she age otherwise? And after de-lamination, will that same beauty exist and Eve will age like normal people from that age, or from old age? Anyways, Jack will still die, no matter what.

So, how will their love survive? What will happen to it? Unless, of course, Jack is able to go against CABC and lamination is abolished. Consequently, all LaMBs are de-laminated. But will still the society accept Eve? Also, all the criminals will be given justice anyways. So, Eve will still be imprisoned. And maybe then death penalty will replace lamination and Eve is hanged.

And now we come back to the same question. How does their love survive? If Jack really loves Eve, he should be ready for sacrifice. One solution I see is that Jack could commit a crime which would get him laminated and free him when Eve is released. Then it might work out.

I wonder, is there any hope for them? Maybe. Maybe not. (I hope there is. So much of waiting should not end in a tragic ending! :) !)

I wish to see the movie ASAP. Thats probably the only way to answer the questions.

FMA remake ED and Al casted! I can't believe it! Romi Paku and Rie Kugimiye casted again!
I didn't watch the Japanese version so carefully, but i did see the english version 3 times, including the movie! I just hope that Vic and Aaron are also casted again!

Romi Paku, Rie Kugimiya to play main characters again in new TV series
The March issue of Kadokawa Shoten's Newtype magazine will announce on February 10 that Romi Paku and Rie Kugimiya will reprise their roles of the Elric brothers Edward and Alphonse in the new television version of Hiromu Arakawa's Fullmetal Alchemist "dark fantasy" manga. Newtype magazine had indicated that the creators were still casting the voices as recently as last month. The new series will premiere in Japan on April 5.
The main staff has already been announced in Newtype last month. The new project's director, Yasuhiro Irie, had previously overseen Kurau: Phantom Memory, opening animation footage for the first Fullmetal Alchemist anime and Soul Eater, and episodes of Alien Nine and RahXephon. Hiroshi Ohnogi (Kekkaishi, Noein, Macross Zero) is supervising the scripts, while Hiroki Kanno (RahXephon, Yu Yu Hakusho The Movie: Poltergeist Report) is designing the characters. Akira Senju (Mobile Suit Victory Gundam, Red Garden, Rampo) is composing the music. Besides Oyama, MBS' Hiro Maruyama, Square Enix's Nobuyuki Kurashige, and BONES' Noritomo Yonai are producing.
Viz Media published the 17th volume of the manga version in North America last October, while FUNimation Entertainment released both the first television series and its theatrical movie finale.

TOPIC:-Choose a side. Are you for or against lamination?MY VIEWS:-Life and
death is a natural process and lamination is breaking that cycle. By
laminating
people, they are living for more years than they should. This is
against
environmental laws which should be checked.Besides, Lamination was
introduced to
protect the environment and recycle the prisoners. But by
lamination prisoners,
we are breaking their natural survival process that is
eating et cetera. Isn't
that against the laws of the environment?Also,
Prisons and jails consume a lot
of money and lamination was made to save the
government's money but even
lamination will also take up money because it is
a very hi-tech system it must
be taking up much more money. That is why I
would say that it is not a very nice
way of punishment.And there are still
many more factors which support my

Clean the roads, footpaths and parks in my town.

MY VIEWS:- Cerra is aplanet which is facing harsh environmental problems. If I were living on planet Cerra, and working for CABC, the tasks I would implement for the protection of the environment are:-1. Make some groups of the LaMBs carry aforestation on the barren land.2. I would order a certain number of shepherds to make their LaMBs clean the water-bodies.3. I would order some other shepherds to make their LaMBs clean the roads and then decompse the bio-degradable waste.

I thought about posting the LaMB rules on my blog for the time being. The LaMB rules as stated on www.animax-lamb.com are:-

LaMBs can't touch another human being.

LaMBs act only upon instructions of their Shpherd.

LaMBs can't speak but can hear.

Every LaMB's neck brace and in-ear nano-chips are combined to translate the Shepherd's instructions into physical actions.

LaMBs will recieve deep electrocution pain if they attack another human being.

LaMBs do not have any facial expressions as their facial nerves are blocked.

LaMBs eyes will glow red when their lamination suit electrocutes them.

LaMBs do not bneed food. they survive on a special fluid that provides energy and nutrients.

LaMBs can't charge themselves . Only their Shepherds can charge the LaMBs' power system.

LaMBs technology metabolises human waste and converts it into H2O which dissipates through the suit.

LaMBs will be assigned to Shepherds by CABC.

Only elite organisations and highest level missions will recieve the aid of the enhanced LaMBs.

Lamination suits are water proof, strength-enhancing and highly heat resistant.

Lamination takes 7 days to complete.

De-lamination is possible and takes 28 days to complete.

All LaMBs don't need physical clothing and are allowed to be seen in public in their original LaMB siuts.

Funimation Gets Fullmetal Alchemist Premium Colection

Funimation is now producing the hagaren OVA in English! Its a great news! :) I had watched the OVA in japanese but it is totally different to watch it in English! This is the report that appeared on ANN:

Distributor hopes to make "FMA related announcement" later this month.

The Fanboy Review website reports that Funimation has acquired the Fullmetal Alchemist: Premium Collection set of animated shorts, and was dubbing them with the original English cast before the new year began. The Premium Collection includes the "Seven Homunculi VS State Alchemists" short that was screened at the Universal Studios Japan amusement park's Fullmetal Alchemist Premium Tour to promote the 2005 Fullmetal Alchemist film. In this "what-if" story, the two sides of the conflict face off in one giant battle. The Premium Collection also includes three DVD shorts that shipped after the movie ended: "Live Action," "Chibi Party," and "Kids." These shorts were the last animated footage created for Fullmetal Alchemist — until this coming April's new Fullmetal Alchemist television adaptation of Hiromu Arakawa's original manga. A Funimation spokesperson told ANN that the company is "hoping to make an FMA related announcement at Ohayocon later this month." The Ohayocon event takes place in Columbus, Ohio from January 30 to February 1.

Hagaren remake!

Ges what did i just find on ANN! A fma remake is being made! :) http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2009-01-11/new-fullmetal-alchemist-anime-staff-confirmed is the link. its gonna be directed by Yasuhiro Irie. I m so excited about it. i mean the anime tv series had a pretty disappointing end and in the movie's end, the bros, come together, but separate from all their other companions and their original world.

But from what i read, i understand that they r primarily going to stick to d manga storyline this time, probably from where they diverged from. i read d comments and someone stated that it was money that they were remaking the whole thing, even after its grand success among the audiences. and if u ask for my personal opinion, the remake will spoil the whole consistency in the story. Tho i m dying to watch the remark, it might just be best for the anime version to remain unchanged.

it saves billions' of taxpayers' dollars that would otherwise be used for building and marinating prisons and law enforcement resources.

lamination suits allows sentences of up to 500 yrs which deters crime and helps to maintain a low crime rate.

reduces illegal slavery, domestic abuse and child labour because the public can now legally engage the services of these laminated criminals.

lamination is environment-friendly as it reduces the release of free radicals.

there is no need for rehabilitation and aftercare programmes to facilitate the reintegration of a criminal back to the community and its family after his/her sentence.

i agree that these definitely serve as strong pts for d enforcement of lamination, but as i said that it is against the env.'s laws of birth & death. then there is d tax money invested in laminating criminals. and d rehab thing, i guess anyone including criminals will be highly disturbed by being a lamb. i mean, think bout it. no expression, freewill, senses and all. in a prison, at least d prisoner gets to eat food an do wht he wants inside it.

Alright d domestic abuse and child labour thing is pretty cool. imagine d no. of people u save from inhuman work conditions, BUT ISN'T LAMINATION GOT TO BE INHUMAN. and then again, where will those people go who work for a living even in those inhuman conditions!

d whole idea is brilliant in itself if it can do all tat stated above. but if i were working in CABC, lamination wud hv been baned by now.

And i ges tats wht they r going 2 do at the end of d movie. So no mater how good this punishment is, i hv more pts against it than for it.

Fullmetal Alchemist Anime Review

Plot
Ever since an accident took place while trying to resurrect their mother, Alphonse (Al) has been caught in a suit of armour and Edward (Ed) in mechanical limbs. Forced to use their unique power of alchemy, Ed and Al set out on a journey to find the philosopher’s stone-a legendary artifact which could give immeasurable powers to the possessor and help him defy the law of equivalent exchange in alchemy-in order to regain their lost bodies. Can the brothers find the miracle they are looking or will the will forces of the military and homunculi get the better of them?

Background History
FMA is a very rare kind of a story. It has action, drama, romance, fantasy and is still at times called science fiction because of the prevalence of alchemy in it. It was originally created as a manga (Japanese art of comics and graphic novel) by Hiromu Arakawa but because of its fast growing popularity it caught the eye of anime producers and was made into an anime (Japanese art of animation). The manga still continues and is published in the monthly Shonen GanGan (Square Enix) while the anime has ended with 51 episodes and a full length movie. In fact, because of the difference in the run-time of the two forms, the story diverges in the anime and manga at the point of the death of Greed (a homunculus).

Critical Appreciation
FMA defines a new unnamed genre of stories. Even though it contains everything from action to humuor, it is hard to say what genre it really is. It is neither a suspense, nor a romance or drama, and neither it is a story that preaches things in a very righteous style. The plot, the character development, the music and the animation blend very well into each other. The story is so well written and animated and the best part is that none of it is forced into it. It all naturally unfolds. It is neither very hypothetical nor is it so full of suspense and drama that one gets too burdened with it. Instead along with the characters being very realistic in the sense behaving all the while the way normal people, the writer has also maintained certain levels of fantasy which also make the story light-hearted. It is amazing to watch such a mixture of fantasy and true life behaviour of the characters, especially when you are watching the anime and out of blue you go all like, “Hey! That’s exactly what I did!” This is one reason as to why the anime and manga both became so popular. Apart from that, the story is very powerful. One moment, you are laughing your life out and with the wink of an eye, the scenes change and you are at the verge of tears. Like, for instance, there was a scene where the brothers were with their childhood friend Winry. And as it is animation, Winry is jumping up and down and jumping over the bed and it is a fairly humuorous scene when suddenly the scene changes to a graveyard and brigadier general Maes Hughes is being buried and his 3 year old daughter is crying out her life, “Mommy! The characters of story are greatly versatile. From the heroes-Ed & Al- to people like the homunculi and their master, the military and its leader and dictator, the boy’s teacher and father, the chimeras, the countrymen, the thieves and murderers and even comedians. The story has them all and they constitute to the story in their own ways. The questions, their answers and the faults, the memories and everything the characters share become the driving force for them to continue working for whatever they want and all this helps the story to come to a conclusion. And even though the author has created a true life world full of fantasy, in the midst of all this realism, the author doesn’t forget fantasy. What I mean is that even though the T.V. series ends in a tragedy with the brothers separating and ending up in different worlds. Their adventure continues in the movie with the brothers getting a new aim in life-to reunite with each. In the last episode, where the brothers are separated, Al loses his memory in equivalency for his mind, body and soul, even though Ed trades himself in exchange for his brother. And throughout the movie he doesn’t regain it until they come through the gate to our world to destroy the portal (watch the movie for further information about the plot) that Al gets them back the moment the cross over to the other side. Ed concludes that it is because of equivalent exchange that the memories come back to Al. This is an example as to how the basic theme of the story that revolves around equivalent exchange is maintained through out the story. Also, the fans expected some romantic scenes between Ed and Winry since it is shown that Winry has a crush over Ed (though only in minor extents) but the writer maintains a consistency in the story and maybe these are the reasons to the popularity of the series.

The best part of the story is that we don’t see a portion of it, or just the happy bits or only the sad ones, we see all of it. From the beginning to the end. How it all began and how it ended.

However, there are places where there are some dialogue mistakes as well. Such as in the movie, Al mentions two comments about Ed which he couldn’t have without the memories he lost. But these are minor things and can be left aside to enjoy the glamour of the story.

In the end, I would like to conclude that this story is a must for anybody who wants to indulge into anime or manga and even text novels, video games, artwork etc. since the series has launched several of the above.

TOPIC:-Choose a side. Are you for or against lamination?
MY VIEWS:-Life and death is a natural process and lamination is breaking that cycle. By laminating people, they are living for more years than they should. This is against environmental laws which should be checked.

Besides, Lamination was introduced to protect the environment and recycle the prisoners. But by lamination prisoners, we are breaking their natural survival process that is eating et cetera. Isn't that against the laws of the environment?

Also, Prisons and jails consume a lot of money and lamination was made to save the government's money but even lamination will also take up money because it is a very hi-tech system it must be taking up much more money. That is why I would say that it is not a very nice way of punishment.

And there are still many more factors which support my thoughts.

Lamination can be dangerous to the LaMBs because the shocks they will be given on not abiding by the laws of being a LaMb can kill them before their term is over.

MY VIEWS:-If I were given access to a LaMB it would be really fantastic. I could make it do all sorts of things. On my order, it would:-

Clean the roads, footpaths and parks in my town.

Clean the rivers that flow through the city and are now basically dead.

Clean my room.

TOPIC:- Lamination is considered a form of recycling by the Central Administration Bureau of Cerra (CABC). If you worked for the CABC what other policies would you implement to preserve the environment?
MY VIEWS:- Cerra is aplanet which is facing harsh environmental problems. If I were living on planet Cerra, and working for CABC, the tasks I would implement for the protection of the environment are:-
1. Make some groups of the LaMBs carry aforestation on the barren land.
2. I would order a certain number of shepherds to make their LaMBs clean the water-bodies.
3. I would order some other shepherds to make their LaMBs clean the roads and then decompse the bio-degradable waste.

TOPIC:-In LaMB, the process of Lamination was first invented to preserve youth and beauty until it evolved into a form of imprisonment. Would you commit a crime to stay young and beautiful?
MY VIEWS:-Lamination is a process where somebody is put in a suit or laminated. This is done to criminals and they can stay young and beautiful for about 500 years. But that means that their face nerves are constrained and they can’t speak and touch other people until asked to fo so. And that is the reason than even if somebody pays me $2 Billion to commit a crime on Cerra and be laminated, I would refuse. What’s the point of staying young and pretty if you are not free. If your outer beauty can’t be seen by others, even if you are a god-at-heart kind of a person, what’s the point. Besides, once you have committed a crime, you are no more a good-at-heart person. So, I will not commit a crime to stay young and beautiful.

Hi all!

This post is to inform you all about Animax's (anime broadcasting chanel) first full-lenght movie-LaMB. It is based on the novel writen by Carmelo S. J. Juinio. He had submitted his 50-page novel for the Animax Awards 2007 and though he did not win to the Japanese guy, the judges were really impressed by his novel and animated it. Its directed by Ryusuke Tei from Furi Furi Company, and voice casted by Joise Ho (Hong Kong) and Van Ness Wu (Taiwan) in English and Cantonese. The click Five and Simple Plan will feature two songs for the movie. In fact it will be dubbed in Cantonese, Hindi, Japanese and Mandarian!

The summary of the movie is:

The inhabitants of a harsh desert planet called Cerra have perfected a system of imprisonment without walls. Called “Lamination”, this system of virtual slavery ensures that those convicted of serious crimes remain productive, if not free, members of society. Prisoners are hence called LaMBs.
The system has made both jails and the death penalty unnecessary in a world where human ingenuity, creativity and labor continue to be precious commodities that cannot be replaced by robots or any form of “artificial” intelligence. This system has sparked off philosophical debate among the citizens of Cerra on whether lamination is ethical.
The 2 main protaganists are Eve and Jack. Eve is an ex-weapons specialist who has accidentally taken innocent lives while trying to do good and was sentenced to years in virtual imprisonment behind the laminated suit. Jack on the other hand, is a visiting scientist from another planet who is trying to forget his dead wife and immerses himself in work. Inadvertently Jack gets pulled into the political system of lamination and a romance with Eve…
